Breathe in… Breathe out…
I used to wonder why meditation focuses on Breathing exercise. Why is that Pranayam is so critical part of yoga. And how does it impact for it does really impact.
I feel my breath. When Ireally concentrate on inhaling the air into my nostrils, and feel it how the air fills the lungs ; this brings my mind to concentrate on this very basic act. My mind might be doing a lot of stress-fighting, your heart might be aching, and your being might be at question, but this simple attention to inhalation will invigorate you to the core. Hold on for a few minutes. I feel how the alveoli are happy at the arrival of fresh air. How they are ready to receive this batch. Entertain this thought for a few more seconds. Then, I slowly exhale the air : out of my alveoli, out of my nostrils and out of my body. Hold on a few more seconds now.
This simple activity connects me to my core. This instills in me that I am alive ; I am in this moment.
We may spend almost 99% of our time breathing in, breathing out — unconsciously. What if we are conscious of our breathing every second of our lives: would not that be celebratory? You will start enjoying every second of your being.
Breathing is so basic, yet it means the world.
